We couldn’t get our script to register until we found this page. We were using the this object as the first parameter instead of Page. Thanks so very much.

Even though you are in a user control, the first parameter to RegisterStartupScript should be the parent page. In my particular case I’m doing timed async postbacks.

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(this.Parent.Page, this.GetType(), “foo”, “document.getElementById(‘” + this.ad_display.ClientID + “‘).innerHTML = ‘” + DateTime.Now.ToString(“yyyyMMddhhmmss”) + “‘;”, false);
}

Since I spent a lot of time Googling this, I thought I’d share. In your init script, use these lines:

media_strict: false,
plugins: “flash,”

obviously Flash is probably not the only plugin you’ll be using, so just add it to the list. Thanks for the tip, Mike.
